Start the day right, with a delicious coffee and pastry at the Newham General Store as you drive out to Hanging Rock Winery. Here you can enjoy one of the best views in the Macedon Ranges as you stroll around its outdoor sculpture trail - one of the largest outdoor exhibitions in Victoria. Then choose from over 20 wines on tasting, from award winning sparkling wines, aromatic whites and silky Pinot Noirs. Whilst there, you can also enjoy high elevation, elegant Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Cold Acre, eat estate grown Speckle Park Beef and dance on the lawns to live music.
It's then a short drive to Hesket Estate, a family-owned winery known for its cool-climate reds and whites, decadent and wild ranging food offerings and scenic setting. It’s hard to leave once you’ve secured a table under the trees with views out over the vineyards and live music to enjoy!
For lovers of art and design, you’ll want to continue on towards Romsey and visit Mount Monument, an architecturally stunning cellar door, with sculpture trail and incredible views from its restaurant over the Cobaw Ranges. Mount Monument will be hosting Attwoods Wines and Boulder Fields Wines this Budburst, with incredible terroir driven Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and Syrah on offer, as well as alternative varietals such as Grecco and Sangiovese, served with an American style BBQ.
Finally, enjoy a scenic meander back over Mount Macedon to arrive at Mount Towrong winery, whose Italian heritage shines through its small batch, sustainable wines majoring in Mediterranean varietals found nowhere else in the ranges such as Prosecco, Negroamaro and Lagrein.
After all that adventuring, slide into a cosy seat at Jospehine's Wine Bar in Woodend, the newest addition to the town's vibrant dining scene. Enjoy a selection of local sourced and seasonally inspired small plates, paired with their extensive selection of Macedon Ranges wines and other artisanal drinks.
